resident artists & studio space

SPA rents studios to working artists and art collectors at reasonable rates in order to provide space for creative work, art exhibition and learning opportunities about contemporary art; provide opportunities for artists and others to collaborate; and to integrate the general public with working artists and others in order to expand participation in the visual arts.  Please contact SPA if you are interested in renting studio space in the building.

Annual Studio Residency Program
NEXT: 2025-26 Opportunity

SPA first tested the 11-month Studio Residency Program in the fall of 2015.  A small private studio on the second floor of the visual arts center was provided at no charge to an emerging artist in the Barre/Montpelier area to build a new body of work for exhibition.  The Studio Residency Program continues to receive significant interest and artists are selected on a competitive basis.

The next deadline for applications for the Annual Studio Residency Program is June 14, 2025.
