Experience Studio Place Arts (SPA), a vibrant, three-floor, non-profit community visual arts center in historic downtown Barre, Vermont. Our mission is to enrich people around the region by making the visual arts accessible to everyone through education, art exhibitions (free of charge), and contact with working artists. SPA opened its doors in 2000 following extensive renovations of a fire damaged, historic structure, the Nichols Block, which presented an opportunity to bring more creative programming to our region.

In the Galleries:
Effective starting August 19, SPA has summer hours, and staff will be present on an irregular basis. If you need to reach staff, please send an email. SPA will have regular hours starting on September 3. Happy summer! Upcoming Exhibits & Events:
Art Social: Saturday, September 21 from 4:30-6pm Meet the artists in 3 new exhibits and enjoy a performance by a quartet from the Vermont Fiddle Orchestra.

Main Gallery: Rock Solid XXIV Sept. 11 – October 26, 2024 This annual stone sculpture exhibit, since 2000, showcases stone sculptures and assemblages by area sculptors and works that depict the beautiful qualities of stone. Additionally, take the Art Stroll around downtown, historic Barre to view a variety of granite sculptures. (SPA gallery and outdoors)

Second Floor Gallery: The Other Side by Joe John Interactive collection of drawings that ask the question, “what’s on the other side?” Joe John is the 2023-24 recipient of the Studio Residency Program at SPA. Sept. 11 – October 26, 2024
