Experience Studio Place Arts (SPA), a vibrant, three-floor, non-profit community visual arts center in historic downtown Barre, Vermont. Our mission is to enrich people around the region by making the visual arts accessible to everyone through education, art exhibitions (free of charge), and contact with working artists. SPA opened its doors in 2000 following extensive renovations of a fire damaged, historic structure, the Nichols Block, which presented an opportunity to bring more creative programming to our region.

CELEBRATE!
Show Dates: November 5 -December 27, 2025 Seasonal Gallery Hrs: Wed-Sat.10:30AM-4PM; Check the SPA website for changes in gallery hours. Additional visits by appointment. Art Social: Saturday, November 8, 4-5:30PM Meet the Artists and enjoy a performance by a Quartet from the Vermont Fiddle Orchestra in the Classroom. Enjoy a 3-floor fine art and craft extravaganza with work made by more than 75 SPA member artists. The show is creatively displayed in our historic building and it includes a wide variety of hand-made, decorative and functional items that are wonderful gift choices for family, friends - and yourself! Mark Your Calendar: Day After Thanksgiving Friday, November 28 10:30AM-4PM Skip the frenzy at the shopping malls! Bring your holiday guests to SPA for hot chocolate, tea, cookies and a relaxing art adventure. Jack Rowell Book Signing Saturday, December 6 3-4:30PM Photographer Jack Rowell will be at SPA to sign his spectacular, new coffee table book, “Jack Rowell: Photographs,” which showcases his pictorial legacy. (SPA Gallery Hrs: 10:30AM-5PM) Food Drive: We encourage you to participate in our gallery food drive. When you visit SPA, please bring shelf-safe food donations and we will deliver these items to the local food shelf at Capstone Community Action.
