Shows & Opportunities:

Marked
Tattoo and graffiti art are accessible, transitory, subversive art forms that developed on unconventional canvases, outside gallery and museum walls. They are characterized by intricate designs, use of iconography, and often express identity, affiliation, and current culture, giving voice to the dispossessed.

Marked asks artists working in all mediums to consider the themes, symbols and concepts found in tattoo and graffiti art. Think of the way these art forms claim space, express character, reveal community, demonstrate association. Because these types of art are found in nontraditional spaces that are both public and private, sanctioned and unsanctioned, artists might also consider the ephemeral, vulnerable, shifting, layered, evolving, confrontational, unexpected, unpretentious aspects of art found in these real world settings. Art that can be celebratory and enhancing or painful. Art that covers or obscures, to create beauty where none existed, or to hide a scar, imperfection or past identity that is no longer accurate or to purpose.

Consider that some tattoos were made with needle and thread dipped in pigment, graffiti artists layer over one another’s work in collaboration or confrontation, and for each art form, throughout history, there have been cultural norms and laws broken in their making.

We are envisioning a show that includes 2-D and 3-D works in a variety of traditional and nontraditional media, including photography though it will not be a major focus for our selections.

Exhibit Dates:  March 11 – April 18, 2026
Deadline for Entries:  Sat., January 31, 2026

Milk Cans, Bees & Maple Trees
Vermont is home to small-scale, organic family farms and major industrial operations.  Over the years, Vermont tourism publications and organizations have promoted a romantic farm ideal in order to attract visitors and some have even coined the term “Ver-Moment” to encapsulate the visual charm of simpler times.   At the same time, farms have diversified into new food stuffs, ecotourism, and farm to table marketing relationships.  Many Vermont farms help to feed local communities, participate in farmers markets, support schools and food banks.  Recent natural disasters like floods and drought, coupled with changes in federal economic programs like grants for water quality improvements and changes in price supports forecast a challenging future.  We are facing a darker side to the experience of farming involving financial uncertainty, family stresses, climate change and catastrophe, worker exploitation, pollution and other associated challenges and risks.  Show us the beauty but help us understand the reality and ripple effect of farming in our state as you see it.

Exhibit Dates:  April 29 – June 13, 2026
Deadline for Entries:  Sat., March 14, 2026
