Making an Impression
Block print show by American Studies class from Williamstown High School

Exhibit Dates: February 25 - March 26, 2005

Exhibiting Artists: Ryan Atherton, Angela Bernardini, Jared Carrier, Logan Coon, Andy Couture, Mike Ducey, Sunsetta Gay, Penny Goddard, Sara Laughlin, Alison Mailloux, Tatum McGlynn, Carolee Murchee, Natasha Neveau, Chelsea Palin, Danielle Pepin, Katie Richardson, Sam Shangraw, Melissa Welch, Amber Willey, Lindsay Wilson, Joey Woods.

The image above is by Andy Couture. This is his statement:
The issue that I chose to identify is that of immigration in the U.S. I feel that America has shut its doors on immigrants and made it very hard for foreigners to live here. I chose to use the Statue of Liberty for my image, which is a symbol of freedom in our country. I put a 'No Vacancy' sign on it. On the base of the Statue of Liberty, it says "send me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free", but many Americans want to shut out immigrants which I believe is wrong.
